DALLAS — The Dallas Symphony Orchestra made a big announcement Tuesday morning, naming Marvin Hamlisch as its principal Pops conductor for the 2010-2011 seasons.

The Oscar-winning pianist and composer will make his first appearance on August 27 with an all-Gershwin program. The series continues through May 28, 2011.
