CARROLLTON — A little boy stepped up to the podium at the Carrollton City Council on Tuesday night to try and save his family's home.

His house and others on Barclay Drive are right along Dudley Branch Creek. Their backyards have been slipping away for years as a retaining wall deteriorates.

Ten-year-old Nick Hamrla appealed to City Council members to save his home.

"I was excited because we had a big back yard and my dad was going to buy two nets to play soccer," he said. "A big rain came and the land was scooped away."

After three years battling the city, five Barclay Drive homeowners filed a lawsuit that was sent to federal court this year.
