A group of would-be jewel thieves picked the wrong store to try and rob.

Surveillance video showed five men storming a jewelry store in Garden Grove, California, pointing guns at customers and employees.

Before getting their hands on a single jewel, the 65-year-old owner opened fire, sending them scrambling for the door. The woman then took off after the thieves.

Moments later, their SUV left so quick, three of the guys were left behind until they were picked up a block away. They all got away empty-handed.

Or did they?

On Monday, two robbers tried the same thing at a different store nearby, and again, the owner pulled out a gun. This time, one was hit in the head, and they were both arrested.

Police aren't sure the two incidents are connected, but caution store owners to take care when protecting their businesses.
