WFAA.com user Phillip Young shares his experience and video from Wednesday's tanker explosion:
"I was traveling west on 30 and then went north on 35. I pulled over on the shoulder of 35 just past the Houston Street bridge. At that point I took video where you can see that traffic was still passing in front of me ( notice the Borden truck). I sat there for a couple of minutes when I then realized the traffic was stopped a half mile back by the DPD. I also notice that ahead of me, the road was covered with smoke and debris and I quickly started to look for ways to protect myself. I then proceeded to cross over the grass of the shoulder and get into the HOV feeder ramp to Northbound 35. Noticing the huge explosions just accross the freeway and feeling the heat of the blasts, I decided to back up and use the bridge as a shield in case something was blown my way. As I was backing up, I was running over small debris from canisters already landed on the HOV ramp. Luckily they were not so large I could not get around it. I stayed there for about 10 more minutes and then was advised to back up further on the HOV ramp when DPD was able to get to me and another truck stranded. After about 15 minutes, I was instructed to turn around and proceed off the ramps going another direction. It was an incredible experience."
