WFAA's Walt Zwirko signs off from Computer Corner

WFAA Senior Digital Editor Walt Zwirko's final day at the station is on Wednesday. He created WFAA.com and established the editorial practices and processes we use on our digital platforms to this day, but viewers may know him better from News 8's Compute

Senior Digital Editor Walt Zwirko's final day at WFAA will be Wednesday, April 20, 2016, after more than 30 years in various roles at the station.

We here at News 8 know Walt best for creating WFAA.com and establishing the editorial process and standards that we maintain to this day. He made it his personal mission to make sure our reporters' stories and all other content on the site was worthy of the reputation of the station, and worked long, odd hours to make sure that was the case.

He also served as a producer at WFAA and even once directed a show -- the 1987 rescue of "Baby Jessica" from a well in Midland, Texas, which was seen around the world.

However, viewers may remember him best from Computer Corner. There, Walt taught viewers about new technology that was beginning to come into the home and educated them about how to use computers to help in their daily lives.

We at News 8 would like to thank Walt for his immeasurable contributions to the station's presence on air and online over the years, and wish him the best as he moves what he affectionately called WFAA's "Little Elm Bureau" out to Pilot Point!
