In trimming their roster to 75, the Dallas Cowboys waived/injured safety Matt Johnson and released quarterback Caleb Hanie.
Johnson, a fourth-round pick in 2012, has never played in a regular-season NFL game. He's had chronic hamstring injuries and once again had it derail him this season early on in training camp. The Cowboys finally gave up on him with this move.
Johnson will be placed on waivers, along with several more. Those with him on the waived/ injured list include TE Jordan Najvar; CB Justin Green; LB DeVonte Holloman; and CB Johnny Thomas.
