DALLAS Dallas police issued an arrest warrant Saturday afternoon for Van Dralan Dixson in connection with a series of sexual assaults in South Dallas.
Investigators said evidence from one of the cases pointed to Dixson.
'The results provided a positive DNA match for a suspect,' said Dallas police spokesman Maj. Jeff Cotner. 'Officers are working diligently to locate the suspect.'
Cotner said the DNA was based on a sample that was provided to the department.
The warrant is for aggravated sexual assault and bond for Dixson is set at $1 million. He also faces charges for deadly conduct.
'We are still awaiting laboratory results on the evidence submitted for testing from other cases,' Cotner added.
Police are asking the public for help in locating Dixson, who is described as a 38-year-old black male, 5'-7' tall, 185 lbs., with black hair and brown eyes.
Dixson has a lengthy rap sheet, including convictions for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon; evading arrest; and resisting arrest.
Anyone who can help police find Dixson is urged to call 911 immediately.
Police advised the public to 'remain alert and vigilant' in reporting any suspicious persons or activity.
Jail records show that Alan Mason, the man picked up for questioning as a person of interest in the sexual assault investigation, remains in jail on completely unrelated charges. His grandmother is irate, saying police posed her grandson as a suspect.
'He wouldn't hit a lady, let alone rape somebody' said Mason's grandmother, Shirley Clerkley. 'He's a sweet guy.'
Kewanna Davis of Dallas is hoping for a quick end to the manhunt.
'I still feel unsafe until they catch who this guy is,' she said.
