TARRANT COUNTY- A man who translated some of Khalid Aldawsari's on line blogs for News 8 said the postings are almost like hallucinations, filled with hatred for Muslims and infidels.
The blog is extremely fanatic, said Jamal Qaddura. I don't know how this guy was under the screen, under the radar. Qaddura is a frequent spokesperson for the Islamic community in Tarrant County.
He said Khalid Aldawsari's writings would have set off alarms if anyone had known about them.
Jihad means struggle, but he is not here asking for struggle, Qaddura translated. He is asking for a fight.
In a journal found in Aldawsari's Lubbock apartment, federal agents found this threat: And now, after mastering the English language, learning how to build explosives and continuous planning to target the infidel Americans, it is time for Jihad.
Some community members are already making phone calls trying to find out anything they can about this man, Qaddura said.
He called Aldawsari a lone wolf who apparently had no connection with any mosques in Texas. If he had, Qaddura said, worshipers would have reported him.
We watch, Qaddura said. We have been for years, watching for a man like that. Watching out for a man like that.
Qaddura praised the arrest, but he knows it will also reinforce some people's suspicions about Muslims in America.
He said that is ironic, since only yesterday a man named Henry Glaspell pleaded guilty to federal hate crime charges for vandalizing a mosque in south Arlington. Glaspell told investigators he did it because he hated Arabs.
Many thousands of Muslims across North Texas will attend Friday prayers. Qaddura said they will also ask, does anyone know anything about Khalid Aldawsari.
