SURPRISE, AZ - Newly acquired Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre was in camp a day early. His signing with a six year $96 million dollar contract is the reason last year's third baseman Michael Young asked for a trade.
Adrian Beltre expecting big things in Arlington
There is nothing I can do about that, Beltre says. If you want my opinion, our team's lineup is better with him than without him. Beyond that, there is nothing I can do about it.
Beltre has been in camp less than a week but has already been impressed with the team s power at the plate.
There is no doubt that this team has been doing damage the last couple of years with the offensive they have, Beltre says. Hopefully I can contribute to that. Our goal is finish what they started last year. Just win two more games and win the World Series.
Beltre recovered from an injury filled season in 2009 with Seattle to finish with .321, including 28 home runs. Boston was a favorable park for him last season and thinks the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington will help him improve even more.
Hopefully I can do my part and accomplish what we want, Beltre says. Beltre is a career .275 hitter.
