IRVING Irving ISD employees are being tempted by an offer that could put $1,000 in their pockets.

Problem is, they must resign to get it.

The district like all public school districts in the state is facing deep cuts in state education funding.

Irving currently faces a projected deficit between $14 million and $29 million. The district says it would need to cut between 200 and 250 positions.

Teachers and staff must turn in their resignations by March 11 to benefit.
