University of Oklahoma Police Public Information Officer Catherine Bishop said there was 'no evidence of shots being fired' and 'no injuries reported' following an emergency alert on the campus Wednesday morning.

Norman police said at 11:17 a.m. they received a report of shot or shots fired and issued an alert.

Police soon issued an all-clear for most of the 30,000-student campus but continued to check Gould Hall, which was ringed with yellow-and-black police tape.

The alert drew a large response from both campus and local police.

'Both the Norman and OU police department have very quickly responded as well as emergency personnel,' Bishop said.

Gary Barksdale, an adjunct math professor, said he was walking across campus to his classroom when the campus-wide alert arrived and that he saw police escort someone out of Gould Hall, where the university's architecture school is located.

'A guy had his hands over his head,' Barksdale said. 'It looked like (police) had Tasers.'
