PLANO A popular online clothing store for young children is facing mounting complaints and criticism.

Born 4 Couture, headquartered in Plano, quickly became an online fashion hot spot, drawing thousands of customers from across the country after it launched in 2009.

The company's Facebook page is approaching 20,000 'likes.'

But a growing number of customers tell News 8 that over the past few months, they have faced lengthy delays in clothing orders, incorrect shipments and problems with refunds.

They say the response from the company has been inadequate.

'It's ridiculous,' said Cathy Bybee, who added she is still missing half of an order from last spring. 'I still haven't gotten the cupcake dress.'

Bybee said she spent close to $125 on the order.

She said there were a list of excuses provided by owner Amber Lancaster ranging from personnel matters to shipping issues.

Jennifer Gamboa-Haker experienced similar issues at Born4Couture. She ordered a 'Mystery Princess' outfit for her daughter.

But when it arrived months late, she realized it was the wrong size, an 'Angry Bird' design and her daughter's birthday had already passed.

'Voicemail, then I tried texting and e-mail. Just wasn't very successful at all,' she said of efforts to get answers from the company.

Amber Lancaster wouldn't agree to an on-camera interview, but did release a statement saying, in part:

'I will not make excuses and I accept total responsibility. The poor hiring decisions, shipping delays and inventory management problems are all my fault. I've worked very hard to rectify these problems and believe I have.'

The Dallas Better Business Bureau told News 8 it is currently looking into nearly 20 complaints about Born4Couture filed during the past few months from across the country.

'Problems with delivery, or just incorrect or no delivery,' said Jeannette Kopko, the organization's senior vice president for communications. 'Currently, they have an 'F' rating, which is the lowest.'

The Texas Attorney General's office said it is currently reviewing four recently-filed complaints.

A Facebook page with hundreds of likes and comments has also surfaced. It originally outlined continued problems with the company's service, but has since said it is working toward helping customers get their orders completed.
