DALLAS -- Authorities found the body of a missing fisherman who fell into White Rock Creek Monday morning near Fair Park in Dallas.
The body was found Tuesday morning after the search was called off Monday night.
Officers responded to a call at 11:06 a.m. Monday regarding a Hispanic man, whose identity is unknown, jumping into the water and not surfacing.
Homicide detectives interviewed witnesses and a man they described as an "associate" who said he had just met the fisherman.
Witnesses said they heard loud talking coming from the area of the fisherman and his associate, and later saw the unknown man struggling to stay afloat in the water. One of the witnesses attempted to save the man, but the fisherman went under the water and never resurfaced.
Police are investigating the case as an unexplained death.
Dallas Fire-Rescue was unable to find the fisherman Monday, and they will send in the department's dive team to conduct a recovery operation Tuesday morning.
