DENTON Authorities in the city of Denton announced an arrest in a nearly 31-year-old murder case.

Investigators had few leads when 42-year-old Francisco Narvaez, a businessman from San Antonio, was found stabbed to death in a Denton motel room on Sept. 30, 1983, read a statement from Ryan Grelle, a spokesman with Denton police. With time, the few leads authorities had went cold.

Decades later, a grand jury indicted 53-year-old Robert Otteson on Aug. 8. Grelle said new evidence led them to Otteson, who was in his early 20s at the time of the murder.

Authorities didn't reveal the specific details as to how they were tipped off to Otteson or what type of new evidence was unveiled.

Otteson was taken into custody on Tuesday in his current home town of Lakeville, Minn.

Denton police say the investigation into the case continues.
