Four Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD schools were locked down Friday afternoon amid "police activity" in the area near them, a spokeswoman said. The lockdown lasted about a half hour.

R.L. Turner High School, Perry Middle School, McGlaughlin Strickland Elementary School and Century Elementary School were locked down, said district spokeswoman Angela Shelley.

School was not in session most of the activity inside is teachers setting up classrooms. Shelley did add that some students are registering for classes, but was unsure of the amount.

Shelley did not specify why police are in the area. A spokesperson for the police department has not returned a message.
