Hemingway did it in Spain.

Now you can run with the bulls, right here in Texas.

There is a run at Royal Purple Raceway near Houston on December 7. A North Texas run scheduled for April 5 at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.

Animal rights advocates say the bulls could be hurt, and should not be used for entertainment. But organizers of The Great Bull Run insist the animals are safe.

Human participants will have fenced "safe zones" along the route to get out of harm's way.

"By participating in the run, you accept the risk that you might be trampled, gored, rammed or tossed in the air by a bull, or bumped, jostled, tripped or trampled by your fellow runners," according to a statement on the bull run's website. It says the animals used for its U.S. runs use "less aggressive" bulls than the ones in the famed Pamplona, Spain spectacle.

Event organizers say thousands of people have already signed up for the bull runs being set up around the U.S. The next one is scheduled for August 24 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Virginia.

Oh, and if you don't want to run, you can also buy a ticket to watch.
