UNIVERSITY PARK SMU student and football team defensive lineman Torlan Pittman arrived at the DallasLew SterrettJustice Center on Tuesday charged with raping a 22-year-old woman.

Pittman has been removed from the team,SMU officials have confirmed, but when WFAA-TV askedhimon Tuesday whether he is guilty as accused, he shook his head no.

SMU police arrested Pittman just before noon Monday. The former high school all-star and a friend are accused of raping the woman at an apartment in Huntsville, Texas, in September.

I am in shock, SMU head football coach June Jones told News 8. If there is one kid that we feel shocked about something like this, it's Torlan. This caught us totally by surprise. We feel awful for everyone involved.

Also arrested was 20-year-old Sean Curtis Weatherford, a former Sam Houston State baseball player.

Police said the victim was under the influence of drugs and alcohol on September 27 last year and was forced to have sex with Weatherford and Pittman.

The woman reportedly was in and out of consciousness and tested positive for a prescription drug that was not prescribed to her.

The way they described her was so intoxicated that she couldn't stand. He was just almost carrying her across the parking lot, said Eric Scott from the Huntsville Police Department.

Pittman and Weatherford have both admitted to sleeping with the woman but said it was consensual.

Pittman has been charged with aggravated sexual assault. It is likely he will be transferred to Huntsville.
