For days we've been telling you that Phase 2 of the LBJ Express project was set to open on Saturday.
But it wasn't to be.
Apparently, some of the last-minute touches on the high-rise toll road designed to speed traffic at the intersection of LBJ Freeway and Interstate 35E did not get done.
The Texas Department of Transportation won't sign off on the lanes until everything is complete, although the 3.6-mile toll road is still months ahead of its original completion date.
Project managers now think Phase II will open late next week. When it does, motorists will be able to choose the TEXpress lanes that charge a variable toll based on traffic flow.
If your vehicle has a Toll Tag, TxTag or EZ TAG, your account will be billed at a discount. Other vehicles will get a bill in the mail.
