HOUSTON Houston police are seeking the public s help to identify three male suspects captured on surveillance video throwing a live dog into a trash dumpster in southwest Houston.

In the video, the suspects throw a black and white pit bull mix dog into a dumpster in the parking lot of a U-Haul at about 12:55 a.m. on Aug. 12 in the 8000 block of South Gessner. One of the males then closes the lid of the dumpster, preventing the dog from jumping out.

The suspects sped away in a white or gray four-door SUV, police said.

Upon arriving to work in the morning, the general manager of the U-Haul heard barking. When he opened the dumpster, he found the dog inside. The manager and another employee from the South Gessner Pet Clinic removed the dog from the dumpster and it was then evaluated by a veterinarian.

The dog was adopted, but police want the animal cruelty suspects off the street.

Anyone with information on the identities of the three males or the dog is urged to contact the HPD Major Offenders Division at 713-308-3100 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
