FORT WORTH A former Fort Worth ISD teacher and coach was arrested for the second time this year on suspicion of having an improper relationship with an underage girl.

Chad Hawkins, 34, is being held at the Tarrant County Jail. According to police, a 16-year-old student came forward and said she had a sexual relationship with the former Arlington Heights history teacher. He is charged with indecency with a child, and is jailed without bond.

A Fort Worth police report states the man and the 16-year-old student had a sexual encounter in a mall parking lot in early January.Hawkins was already in trouble for allegations involving a different 16-year-old girl.

In mid-January, Westworth Village police said they found Hawkins and one of his students in a car at a local gym. The windows were "steamed up" and a later investigation found 90 pages of Facebook messages between the two, with Hawkins allegedly using a fake account.

After news of the first arrest surfaced, a second girl came forward.

"You expect your children to be safe at school," said a woman who identified herself as Monica, a concerned Arlington Heights parent.

According to court documents, Hawkins also missed a recent court appearance and somehow removed an ankle monitoring device.

The DA's office and police would not comment beyond that.

Fort Worth ISD said there is no evidence any of the encounters happened on school property.

Hawkins is a one-time baseball standout who was drafted by the Texas Rangers organization in 2000. He only pitched for a minor league team for "a couple of seasons," a team spokesman previously said.
