DALLAS WFAA's News 8 Investigates team was honored with a 2010 Scripps Howard annual award.

The 16 awards recognize the best work in the communications industry and journalism education.

Reporter Brett Shipp, producer Mark Smith and photojournalist Billy Bryant were honored with the Jack R. Howard Award given for television/cable in-depth reporting.

They were recognized for their work on a series called 'Grounds for Removal'. The stories revealed lax government oversight of the nation's largest statewide natural gas pipeline system.

The Scripps Howard Foundation National Journalism Awards competition recognizes outstanding print and broadcast and online journalism.

Last week, News 8 Investigates reporter Byron Harris was honored along with Smith and Bryant with a 2010 George Foster Peabody Award for a series of stories on trade schools.
