CARROLLTON -- Two people died in a wrong-way accident on the President George Bush Turnpike early Sunday.
Investigators said the driver of a small car was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of the toll road near Josey Lane when it struck a sport utility vehicle just before 4 a.m.
The driver and a female passenger in the wrong-way car were pronounced dead at the scene. Their identities were not released.
The driver of the SUV was hospitalized for treatment of minor injuries.
The turnpike was closed while the fatal crash was investigated. Motorists were detoured to the service road.
