DFW AIRPORT Automatic federal budget cuts slowed down traffic at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Tuesday.

The FAA reported that control tower staffing was also partly to blame for as many as nine flights diverting to Dallas Love Field Tuesday morning before continuing on to DFW.

It happened as the airport changed its arrival/departure pattern due to a cold front's arrival in North Texas.

A representative with the National Air Traffic Controllers Association said delays are likely to worsen as controllers are forced to take one furlough day each pay period.
