Oncor says an "unspecified equipment failure"is responsible for a power outage Wednesday night that left more than 700 customers without electricity for about two and a half hours.

Oncor said the outage occurred at 6 p.m. and had it restored by 8:30 p.m. In total, the site says 728 meters were without power near the Interstate 35E and the Woodall Rodgers interchange.

The outage affected Dallas Area Rapid Transit lines, briefly causing delays "due to a power issue near Union Station," a spokesman wrote on its Facebook page.

At Victory Park, Hooters, the House of Blues and the Terrace Condos were all blacked out.

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science closed early due to the outage.

Perot Museum spokeswoman Becky Mayad said the building was operating on backup power with "minimal light but no energy for the exhibits." Anyone with reserved tickets Wednesday were offered a refund or a replacement ticket for a time and date of their choosing.

"We are optimistically awaiting the return of the power," Mayad wrote on the museum's Facebook page.
