DALLAS - A man was arrested at a probation office after he allegedly attacked an employee who confronted him over a stolen burrito and sauces at a Dallas convenience store Thursday morning.
According to the arrest affidavit, Ernesto Caballos, 21, stopped at the store in the 3500 block of N. Buckner Blvd. before heading to an appointment at a nearby probation office.
An employee working at the store said he saw Caballos put the burrito and hot sauces in his back pocket and then exit the store as another customer who apparently paid for his items was waiting for him inside a parked vehicle.
Police said Caballos attacked the employee after confronting him over the stolen items. The employee suffered a cut on his left ear during the altercation but was able to get the burrito back before Caballos left the scene.
While apologizing for Caballos, the companion told the employee they were headed to the nearby probation office, where police later arrested the 21-year-old male.
According to the affidavit, Caballos had a simple answer as to why he stole the burrito.
"It was easy," he allegedly told the arresting officer.
Caballos was charged with burglary and is being held at Lew Sterrett Justice Center.
