FRISCO, TX - For the past six weeks, FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman has been getting his team ready for their season opener.

I think we've worked awfully hard to get it to this point so hopefully we can keep it here, Hyndman says.

Their first game is Saturday

You know I think every coach you talk to, they'd like to have another week, Hyndman says. I think we're doing a lot of things well now. This is just what you re seeing on the field. The things that are happening in the stands and in the sales department, we're getting FC Dallas to continue to where we were last year with that buzz, and we want start off this year with that same buzz.

He had only a about a year and half before he went into last season and then a full season last year, and ending up where we were, that's a pretty quick turnaround, says FC Dallas president and CEO Doug Quinn.

Hyndman joined FC Dallas in the middle of the 2008 season, so in a two and a half year span, he lead this team to the MLS Cup. They didn't win but their runner up finish has lead to motivation for this season.

I think coming off last year, everyone is excited to start the new year, says FC Dallas Brek Shea. We made it pretty far and I think this year we have bigger goals.

It took us a long time to get there, and I think we're starting off there immediately with that team chemistry, Hyndman says.

Since he became the head coach, Hyndman has acquired players who don't mind going the extra mile to achieve success.

I think the key for him was getting guys that buy into his system, says FC Dallas broadcaster Bobby Rhine. There needs to be a level of familiarity of players that are here. You talk about a guy like Bill Parcells and what he did with the Cowboys; he's always looking for his guys. Shellas is no different.

We're a team that really wants to get better, says FC goalkeeper Kevin Hartman. I think we take a personal accountability for our success.

And that's a good quality for any team to have.
