DALLAS A man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting in South Oak Cliff on Friday night.

Dallas police said Kenneth Collins and Tommie Stevenson were "engaged in some type of transaction" shortly after 10 o'clock when they started fighting in the 8000 block of Leigh Ann Drive.

Stevenson, 27, was wounded in the stomach by a gunshot. He was taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead about two hours later.

Witnesses identified Collins as the gunman. He was found walking in the 500 block of Kirnwood Drive, less than a half-mile away.

According to a police report, evidence found at the shooting scene linked Collins to the crime. The report indicates that Collins, 23, later confessed to the shooting during questioning.

Collins has been charged with murder. Bond was set at $250,000.
