DALLAS - It was a somber scene at the Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Tuesday in Fort Worth as a North Texas soldier killed in combat in Afghanistan came home.

Andrew Krippner, a 20-year-old U.S. Army private from Garland, arrived home on board a small private plane. A large gathering of tearful family members from Garland were there waiting for him.

Full military honors, including water cannons,also greeted Krippner.

His coffin was carefully hoisted from the plane, and then the Patriot Guard escortedhis body to Restland Funeral Home in Dallas.

Krippner died of wounds suffered in Northern Afghanistan. Enemies attacked with an improvised explosive device.

Krippner was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 27th Infantry Regent, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

He is the 159thservice member killed this year.
