HARRIS COUNTY -- Deputies say a driver faces four counts of intoxication manslaughter following a crash at an Alief intersection late Sunday.

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff's Office responded to Synott at Beechnut around 10 p.m. Witnesses told police that an SUV ran a red light and t-boned a Honda Civic.

Four people in the Civic, ranging from their 60s to 80s, died at the scene. A female passenger in the Civic was sent to the hospital and was expected to survive.

The 31-year-old man driving the SUV was sent to the hospital with unknown injuries. Police said the driver, who was believed to be intoxicated, was not wearing a seat belt.

Deputies said the people in the Civic were returning home from a graduation party earlier in the evening when the crash occurred.
