A bomb, a shooter, a hostage.

Six months ago, Irving ISD began planning a rehearsal of the worst that could happen at a school.

Then it did, in Newtown, Conn.

With students posing as themselves, and volunteers posing as victims and parents, Irving school resource officers played out how to respond to violence on a campus Friday.

Next week, the Irving ISD School Board will begin debate on a proposal that staff with concealed carry permits be allowed to keep guns inside their cars on campus.
