DALLAS - Police are searching for two suspects after a man was shot during an attempted robbery early Thursday morning in Dallas.

According to police, two men approached a driver in an attempt to rob him as he sat in a vehicle shortly after midnight at an apartment complex located at Old Hickory Trail and Beckleymeade Ave. The suspects opened fire, shattering the car window and leaving a large bullet hole in the driver's side door.

The target drove away, eventually stopping at an apartment complex in the 2700 block of Wheatland Road, about a quarter mile from where he was shot. This is where police found him.

The victim was transported to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

The identity of the victim and a description of the suspects have not been released.

Correction: An earlier version of this article said the victim was shot at the location at Wheatland. He was actually shot at Old Hickory Trail and Beckleymeade and drove to Wheatland, where he was located. This is corrected and reflected in the above story.
