FORT WORTH Investigators said lightning is responsible for a two-alarm fire in far north Fort Worth that injured two firefighters Monday afternoon.

The firefighters were in a two-story house in the 12800 block of Campolina Way to locate the source of the flames.

'They made their way into attic trying to get to the fire, and at some point fell from the attic to the ground floor,' said Mike Ikerd, an investigator with the Fort Worth Fire Department.

His team determined the fire started with a lightning strike to the home's roof.

The fire department said both men fell about 20 feet. Deglen Isbell landed on the air pack which was strapped to his back. He suffered a back injury. Gino Agnello landed on his side and broke his arm in the fall.

'You don't wat to hear anything like that over the radio,' Ikerd said. 'Any time any of our firefighters get hurt, it's not good.'

Both firefighters were admitted to the hospital. Both are expected to fully recover though it's not known how long that will take.
