DALLAS Just before 30-year-old Dustin Wright was rushed to the hospital in November, his widow Ashley observed this: 'Every breath was a struggle for him; every single breath.'

Dustin survived 10 days in the intensive care unit before dying of influenza.

Darrell Jones saw the same thing happen to his wife Alice this past weekend. She died on Monday.

'Sunday evening, she started breathing hard, and I was like, 'Why are you breathing like that?' And she was like, 'I don't know. I'm having a hard time breathing,'' he recalled.

According to a Facebook post, the parents of 13-year old Lydia Kizziar found their daughter 'struggling to breathe' this past weekend, just before she succumbed to the flu.

'I think anybody who feels like they're having difficulty breathing or they are winded, should seek further medical treatment,' said Dr. Matt Bush of Medical City Dallas.

Dr. Bush said that telltale sign is a critical signal to head directly to the emergency room without delay.

Loved ones of Dustin Wright, Alice Jones, and Lydia Kizziar hope that information will spare others from sudden and unimaginable grief.
