ARLINGTON -- Tarrant County Public Health confirmed the second West Nile virus-related death in the county in 2013 Wednesday morning.

The victim was an Arlington man in his 70s with underlying health conditions. His case had been previously reported.

No other patient information was released.

The first victim in Tarrant County this year was a south Fort Worth man in his 30s who also had underlying health conditions.

There have been five human cases of West Nile virus overall in Tarrant County this year.

Mosquitoes are likely to be in the air until North Texas sees its first freeze. Until then, use insect repellent containing the chemical DEET; dress in long sleeves and long pants, especially during dawn and dusk; and drain any standing water, which can serve as mosquito breeding grounds.
