DALLAS The city has granted about 100 Occupy Dallas protesters a permit to legally maintain their impromptu downtown campground at Pioneer Plaza until Friday afternoon.
On Monday evening, some of the protesters were playing music. But while they have been given a permit to stay, the group must still follow the city's noise and trash ordinances.
There have been some concerns that the protesters might damage the landscaping of the park outside the Dallas Convention Center, although no official complaints have been filed with the city.
Members of Occupy Dallas said they did ask the city for permission to remain at Pioneer Plaza indefinitely, but there has been no indication that they will be permitted to remain beyond the October 14 deadline outlined in the special permit.
