Prior to Tuesday night's game against Oakland, assistant general manager Thad Levine spoke to the media about the progression of the many Rangers players that are currently on the DL. The updates as of now are as follows:
Tanner Scheppers will begin a throwing program Thursday, May 1.
Jurickson Profar had a MRI today and has been cleared to start more baseball activities. He'll start swinging a bat immediately and then a week from now if he progresses, he'll start a throwing program.
Kevin Kouzmanoff will get a second opinion regarding herniated disk in his back Friday in LA to determine best course of action. Kouz said before the game that he did believe that surgery is likely, and that he could be out 7-12 weeks.
Derek Holland is doing PFP work and will throw another bullpen tomorrow. The PFP is somewhat of a new progression for him and the next step as he is recovering.
Pedro Figueroa is having surgery tomorrow. Both UCL repair, or Tommy John, and a flexor tendon.
Joseph Ortiz has just started a throwing program in Arizona.
Geovany Soto is currently on schedule as he is recovering on a brace.
Engle Beltre is doing core cardio and lower half work and throwing on the field and is progressing probably, if anything, ahead of schedule.
Joe Saunders is scheduled to throw three innings, or fifty pitches, in a game on Friday in Surprise. From there, will probably start a more formal rehab.
