DALLAS - Longtime Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price has some competition for his seat.
The commissioner, who has held the spot since 1985, is being challenged by civic leader Betty Culbreath. Culbreath, who currently sits on theDallas/Fort Worth International Airportboard, filed for the District 3 seat Monday afternoon.
I always swore I would never run against John, Culbreath told News 8.
It's at the point now that we can not allow our elected officials to continue to behave the way they are, she added. Behaving without any regard to their constituents.
She will run against him in the Democratic primary.
Culbreathworked for Dallas County for 20 years, including six years as an assistant to Price. Price has not had any serious competition during his tenture.
The challenge comes as the longtime commissioner is dealing with a federal investigation. The FBI raided Price's home and office earlier this year. The FBI is looking for evidence of tax evasion, bribery, money laundering andfraud.
