DALLAS -- Lillie Sanders, a 74-year-old woman who had been missing for more than a week, was found alive in a South Dallas shed on Saturday morning.

Dallas police said two off-duty Dallas County Sheriff's Office deputies made the discovery after they joined Dallas police South Central Patrol officers and the woman's family in an ongoing search effort.

The shed was behind an abandoned house near Owega and Ramona avenues, police said.

Sanders appeared to be slightly dehydrated and was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital for observation.

Lillie Sanders walked away from a South Dallas residence in the 1500 block of Ann Arbor Avenue around 8:30 a.m. Sunday. She was found Saturday less than a half-mile from where she had last been seen.

Police said Sanders has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression, and has not been taking her medication.
