FORT WORTH American Airlines has rejected a proposal to save jobs through early retirement offers.

Unions for flight attendants and ground workers and mechanics had been pushing buyout incentives, but the bankrupt carrier said it couldn't accept their terms.

American has laid out plans to cut 13,000 positions as it reorganizes. It is currently negotiating with its unions.
