FORT WORTH The man selected to be Fort Worth's next superintendent of schools vows to avoid layoffs.
During an interview on Wednesday, Walter Dansby said the district is reviewing everything from classroom instruction to maintenance departments to improve efficiency.
He hopes to allay concerns among employees.
A lot of staff right now especially dealing with the budget they're worried about their jobs, and rightfully so, Dansby said. What we want to do is put something together... something that relieves that tension and tell them how much we value them.
Another challenge for Walter Dansby: Preparing Fort Worth ISD students for the STAAR test. It's the first year for the exam, which replaces the TAKS test.
