DALLAS - A 19-year-old man was killed Tuesday night after several people pushed him into the side of an arrivingDART train in South Dallas.
The incident happened about6:40 p.m. on the southboundplatform of the Green Line's MLKStation. Overnight, seven witnesses were interviewed by police and one suspect was arrested early this morning.
Investigators told News 8 Octavius Lanier was struck from behind and shoved into the side of the train.
One of Lanier's legs slipped off the platform and was pinned between the moving train. Police saidwhile the victim was dragged about30 feet, an artery in his leg was severed.
Paramedics took him to BaylorHospital where he was pronounced dead at 7 p.m.
DARTclosed the southbound tracks for several hours Tuesday night as Dallas police detectives searched for clues, snapped pictures and collected evidence.
At least seven witnesses told police what happened.DARTsaid its surveillance cameras also captured the crime.
Late Tuesday night, Dallas police were investigating a claim that those responsibleknew the victim, and did not intend tohurt him.
DART's Green Line experienced slight delays Thursday night as trains traveling in both directions had to use the northbound platform to pick-up and drop-off passengers.
