This new "Star Trek" film is by far the best of the series.
It takes us back to the beginning, when Captain Kirk (played perfectly by Chris Pine) is fresh out of flight school, and Spock (played by Zachary Quinto) is trying to find his Vulcan-human way.
Every frame of J.J. Abrams' dazzling new popcorn movie works, and it's deceptively smart. The film bends time at warp speed and features a screenload of well-planned special effects
At times it feels like one of the better "Star Wars" films, filled with chaos that makes sense and stunts that are logically out of this world.
This is the most fun I've had going to the movies all year, and - better yet - you don't have to be a Trekkie to enjoy.
Star Trek is rated a mild PG-13.
