LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) A judge in Lubbock says fired Texas Tech coach Mike Leach's lawsuit against the school can proceed but not as quickly as he wants.
Judge William Sowder today denied a motion by Leach's attorneys to speed up taking depositions from school administrators and obtaining documents.
The judge says he saw no reason to give Mr. Leach any special treatment in this case.
Sowder also says the state's motion to dismiss the case on grounds of sovereign immunity will be taken up at a later date.
Leach's attorneys says Sowder's denial doesn't jeopardize their case.
Leach was fired Dec. 30 two days after being suspended. Leach has denied mistreating sophomore receiver Adam James.
Leach's suit alleges libel, slander, breach of contract and violation of the Texas Whistleblower Act.
The Texas attorney general's office did not immediately comment.
