HOUSTON -- A 17-year-old man shot his 16-year-old girlfriend during an argument in far southwest Houston late Tuesday, police said.
According to officers with the Houston Police Department, the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. on Heatherton Hill at Regal Oaks.
Responding officers found the victim shot once in the neck. The teen was rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition.
The shooter, allegedly the girl's boyfriend, was not at the scene. Houston police said the young man's father later called 911 and reported his location.
The suspect was taken into custody. While sitting in the back of the patrol car, the teen was seen apparently smiling at news media cameras.
