Lots of people turned out Saturday to help ease overcrowding at Fort Worth's animal shelter, but more help is still needed.

Earlier this week, we showed you how the shelter is packed with more than 430 animals, so the city facility is holding adoption events at PetSmart stores at 4800 Southwest Loop 820 and 2901 Texas Sage Trail.

About 100 animals found new homes on Saturday, reaching the day's big goal. But the city is hoping to place 100 more pets on Sunday.

Fort Worth isn't the only North Texas city dealing with an animal influx. That's why the SPCA of Texas is offering 50 percent off adoption fees for all adult cats (and several are free) during the month of June.

The Collin County Animal Shelter is adopting out dogs and cats for a $25 donation until July 12.

And Garland Animal Services is offering $5 adoptions on Wednesdays in June.
