DALLAS A two-alarm fire in Far North Dallas Sunday evening displaced more than three dozen residents.

Firefighters reported seeing flames 'coming through the roof' of a two-story building at the Preston Valley Apartments at 5631 Spring Valley Road shortly after seven o'clock.

Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said it took about an hour for the fire to be extinguished.

Evans said power was cut to the building, which contained at lest 16 units. He said the American Red Cross was helping approximately 40 displaced residents.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
