ARLINGTON When life's going down the tubes, there's one tube you'll probably want to be inside: the Atlas Underground Bunker.
It has all the comforts of home, just 30 feet underground.
"I have not had a kooky person ever buy a shelter, said Ron Hubbard with Atlas Bunker.
And you won't find many kooky people either at the Self Reliance Expo, in Arlington, which runs through Saturday at the Arlington Convention Center.
Here you ll find folks, like Rockwall resident Michele Grow, getting advice on how to can, mill and cook hot meals for low cost over long periods of time.
"I don't want to be a gloom and doom person but I have seen a lot of people lose their jobs and if you have the ability to be self-reliant you can provide and you don't lose your home necessarily, Grow said.
"If I'm broke down on the side of the road these are the people that would stop to help me, said show promoter Ron Douglas.
His Colorado company puts these shows on across the country. It s his fourth time in North Texas.
"A lot of this stuff and a lot of these products, 'Oh yeah, my grandmother used to use that,'" he said.
Though your grandmother likely never had a choice of three different kinds of underground bunkers to buy.
