DALLAS Dallas police sources and neighbors say Michelle Jackson and Jamie Stafford had been feuding with their 75-year-old neighbor for months.
Sources said that neighbor at the Sable Ridge Apartments in Northeast Dallas snapped just after 8 a.m. Monday when he saw dog feces on his porch.
"I heard three shots, and I grabbed my phone and hit the floor and prayed," said Yolanda Washington. "I was getting ready to get up and I heard five more. I was counting as they were going... eight shots in all."
Dallas police sources said Jackson, 31 a mother of five was shot first. The suspect, identified as 75-year-old Chung Kim, then ran after Jackson's 31-year-old boyfriend, shooting Stafford as he was fleeing the apartment.
Stafford made it out of the apartment, jumping from the back patio railing onto the ground.
According to an arrest affidavit, Kim walked down, stood over him and shot him again.
Neighbors believe the gunfire in the 6100 block of Abrams Road stemmed from a year-long feud with her neighbor.
News 8 asked neighbors what the feud was about. "Dog poop, and her children making noise, cause they live upstairs and he lives downstairs," Washington said.
A Dallas police source said the suspect found dog feces on his front porch Monday morning, and that apparently enraged him.
The couple's one-month-old baby was inside the apartment at the time of the shooting; their other four children were at school.
Now they are left without their parents.
"She was a sweetheart," said another neighbor. "I don t understand it. It's senseless, but she told me she was ready to move."
Police said Kim drove away after the shooting, but was arrested minutes later at a nearby bank.
