KELLER - Keller police arrested Michele Williams on Monday afternoon for the shooting death of her husband Gregory Williams.

Gregory was shot in the head on Oct. 13 inside the couple's rental home in the 1400 block of Jacob Avenue.

The case caused confusion as investigators tried to decide if his death was a suicide or a murder case. The following day it was determined he was shot by another person.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Gregory Williams was shot from about a foot away. Police said they found forensic evidence linking Michele Williams, 42, to the murder. They had believed she was a suspect since the shooting.

We got those [forensic tests] back, which I don't want to disclose the results, I'm going to leave that to the prosecution in court, said Lieutenant Brenda Slovak with the Keller police.

Williams s wife also changed her story.

She first told 911 that an intruder broke into the house, hit her on the head and then shot her husband. Police founds no signs of an intruder during their investigation.

When you walk into the house and you see pieces of evidence all in one small area, that is very suspicious, Slovak said.

The door had obviously not been forced open as Williams claimed, according to Slovak.

Later that day, Michele told police that the break-in was staged and that she hit herself with a wrench. She claimed it was to cover up the shame of a suicide.

We don't have any indication that she planned this for weeks and weeks, at this time, Slovak said.

Nearly three months after the shooting, Michele was charged with murder, tampering with evidence and filing a false report.

Michele was arrested around noon Monday as she and her daughter headed to a gym in Flower Mound, where the mother lives now.

She's got a lawyer, and she's not talking, Slovak said.

She remains in the Keller Detention Facility under bonds totaling more than $500,000. As for motive, police say they have no evidence of a troubled marriage and they are looking into the family's life insurance policies and things of that nature.
