FORT WORTH- The Fort Worth Independent School DistrictSchool Board could sweeten its offer for workers to leave.
During Tuesday s board meeting, trustees will consider an increase in the incentive paymentand extend the deadline for workers to retire or resign early.
Superintendent Melody Johnson announced Monday afternoon that the district will now pay $5,000 to the first 600 teachers who resigns. The district will also extend the deadline to file to March 23.
The deals has to be approved by the school board at Tuesday's meeting.
The current deal offers the first 300 teachers who apply by March 11 a $1,000 incentive payment. The deal also gives a $500 incentive to the first 300 professional, hourly and at-will employees, who notify the district by that date.
Fort Worth's $1,000 offer to teachers was in line with Cedar Hill Independent School District. It was far below the 15 percent base salary that Dallas Independent School District is offering. Dallas ISD does have a $10,000 cap.
